Welcome

With two little boys, and a law student for a husband, I have plenty of nonsense to share.

Happy Halloween 2014

Happy Halloween

(Photo taken at Disney World)

This has been a wonderful year for the
Nelson family! Lots of great things have happened, and we can't wait to see what the next year brings!

Wayne graduated from law school and started a job at a firm downtown. It has been a good change, and we are really enjoying the steadiness of it. He is still serving as the elder's quorum president in our ward. We have been here for over 3 years now and we are so glad that we chose Pearland as our home.

Claire is feeling more and more like an adult and isn't sure how she feels about that! Most of her time is spent feeding the hungry giants that fill her home. She was recently called as the second counselor in the young women’s presidency. Having never served in that auxiliary before, she is learning a lot. The highlight of her year has definitely been planning a surprise trip to Disney World during the Halloween season! It was a dream come true, and so much fun.

Graham started kindergarten in August and simply loves it! He is eager to learn and very social, so it has been perfect! We are so proud of him. He is losing teeth faster than we can count, and growing taller each day. He will turn six in December.

Cooper turned four this month and is the silliest child we have ever known. He is full of energy and is only quiet when he sleeps, but he keeps us laughing constantly and we wouldn't have it any other way.

Happy Halloween and lots of love,

The Nelsons

To The Rescue

On Sunday after church the boys wanted to watch a movie and eat popcorn. So we were doing that! Wayne had just changed his clothes, and happened to put on a clean white polo. The boys were on the floor stuffin their little baby faces, and we were in the kitchen, WHEN I HEARD CHOKING. (or...coughing) As the mother of young children, I know full well that popcorn is one of the most choke-able foods for toddlers. I couldn't see them, so I said "Is Cooper choking????" And Wayne didn't say anything.  Even worse though, he didn't RUN over there, immediately. So. I did. And I SHOVED Wayne out of the way in the process.

I got there (pretty much I'm just running around the corner of the counter here, just to be clear) and Cooper is totally cool, just watchin his movie, whatever.

Relieved, I turn around only to see Wayne hunched over, trying not to let any more of the red juice that splashed all over his face (because he was drinking a fresh full glass of it when I shoved him out of the way to rescue a CHILD, which is why he couldn't answer me), get on his nice white shirt.

And then I laughed. And said I was sorry. But mostly laughed. But mostly at myself for being crazy.

Check it out!

Our house on day 1:

Our house today:

Whoa guys. Whoa. I didn't realize that it had changed that much. If you want your mind blown though, just google our address and check out the house on street view. That is from BEFORE we bought it. There is no way our neighbors don't love us.

Update I guess... Wayne is working downtown for the summer. I am taking a lifeguard certification course so I can be the lifeguard at girls camp this summer. Graham is so sweet, and Cooper is so wild. Consider yourself updated! Things don't change much around here.

OH YEAH! (Think Vector...if you don't know what I'm talking about, it doesn't really matter)

Guys. Wayne is, LITERALLY (think Parks and Rec) the best. He got himself a summer job! It is with the same firm as last year, which was simply amazing, so we are VERY excited. He really takes on a lot of stuff, not to mention a WHOLE lot of crazy, and he always delivers. I'm a lucky lady!

(A picture from Wayne's school's family fun day. THE perk of being married to a law student.)

Today Graham had his very firs t-ball game! I feel like a real Mom now! I always say that after any Mom milestone. Like the first time Graham REALLY puked allllll over me. Real Mom moment. Took two kids to the zoo, by myself? Real Mom moment. Good stuff. Graham was so happy, and super eager to do everything he could. I was so nervous! Silly me. Cooper was...bored. I need to bring food next time....he was not satisfied with the "injun-turtles" I brought for him to play with. Haha, yeah. That IS what they call them.

He loves it.

Still Alive

It's only been...4 months? That's not so bad!
And I feel like I have nothing to say.

Wayne is still in law school. His parents are coming to visit next week, so that's pretty exciting! It will be there first time visiting us! He is still going strong as the EQ president and that's pretty much it.

Nothing new with me either. I'm constantly looking for weird ways to make money and busy with these crazy kids and church.

Graham is getting so big. SO big. He loves all super heros, and the dentist as it turns out. She has a TV on the ceiling, and he is very impressed.

Cooper is crazy. He talks like a gremlin half the time, he is demanding and bossy, and he has ZERO respect for personal space. He is hugging my head and trying to lick me this very moment.

Meg is on her mission! Holy wow. So proud of her! She couldn't be any cooler if she tried.

Alright. That will have to do for now.

Happy Halloween

Haha, June, really? Well, Cooper turned two, everyone is crazy, life is good! This is our Halloween greeting for 2012. I can't get my hands on EEEEVERYBODY'S  email, so consider yourself greeted.

Happy Halloween

This will be our second Halloween here in Pearland, and we are just as excited as last year! The house is full of spooky things, and everyone has their costumes ready.
Not a whole lot has changed in the past year. Wayne is near the middle of his second year of law school at the University of Houston and it is going well. We are very happy we chose Houston! He is also serving as the elder’s quorum president in our ward, so he is pretty busy these days. Claire does her best at wrangling the two boys we have been blessed with, and learning how to take care of an entire house and yard! (The yard is suffering.)Graham is a very active, very large, soon-to-be four year old who LOVES to speak into the microphone at church. He has shared his testimony of Buzz Lightyear from the pulpit, twice. He loves all boyish things, and often prefers to be addressed as “Batman”. Cooper, who just turned two, is a little ball of energy and full of personality. He is an extremely entertaining handful. He loves to copy everything Graham does, and is a fantastic tiny dancer.
We wish you a very happy Halloween, full of good tricks and fun treats!

Lots of love,
The Nelsons

It's Been a While...

Hello 3 people who read this, we love you dearly! It has been a super extra long time since I have even logged into anything blog related. I'm wondering if that has anything to do with Pinterest....
I guess a few thing have changed. Nothing huge. Wayne started a clerkship at a firm downtown, which has been perfect, and a huge incredible more than we ever expected blessing.  Alas, we are still painfully poor but my thrifty Canfield genes and craigslist have been ever so helpful! Luckily no one has been murdered, yet.
I am now the second counselor in RS, which is crazy and overwhelming and exciting. Coop started nursery (awwwsome). He starts out a little unhappy every time, but seems to be improving. Graham just gave his first talk in primary and seriously, he can't stop talking about it. He loves the microphone.  I should post more pictures of our great home. It is ever-changing. I still can't believe we live here. I found this house online before we had even left Utah, and somehow we got it! We love it, and are so glad we are here!

Much love,
Claire
