A Million Things

We moved in! Like a month ago...Hooray! We had some help from the ward which made it really quick, which was awesome since it's over 100 degrees everyday. We have been a little/lot out of touch since getting internet setup was a bit of an ordeal. 

My Dad turned 50, and we had a not surprise (he knows everything) surprise party. Lots of black, lots of chocolate, lots of good people :).

There is still pretty much noooo rain here! SO unusual, and so hard on the lawn/wallet. We are constantly praying for rain. 

I just got called as the compassionate service leader in my ward. I was totally surprised. It seems like a big job, especially this week. Wish me luck! 

Wayne is the second counselor in the elder's quarum, Graham freaking loves nursery, and Cooper walked! I don't know how I feel about that...

I really REALLY need to post some pictures of the house, but I don't know where my camera is, annnd the house is a horibble, disgusting, disaster! Soon! I promise... but I DID snap a few pictures of us on my phone hanging out in OUR yard today.

He has to wear pants cause even though he walked, he doesn't seem all that excited about it and would prefer to skin his knees.

This kid makes me chuckle. All the time.

For Your Viewing Pleasure

Work on the house has been slow lately as we were short on baby sitters all week.  Wayne and my brother James got all of the carpet out, getting the tack strip out took just about forever, and I finally have all of the paint colors picked out. The bottom shade of green is for the dining room, the bottom shade of brown is for the bathrooms, the middle shade of blue is for the boy's room and our room as well, and the beige is for  the rest of the house and guest room/office/whatever (that isn't actually the shade of beige I chose, it will be less grey, more tan,). 

So now we are just doing paint prep, and trying to decide if we need to prime, paint the ceiling, blah blah boring things. This is a picture of the kitchen taken from the living room. The dining room is through that doorway, and the front door is to the right of the living room. 

We have actually gotten some rain, so the lawn is looking better all the time. Better than our neighbor's even!  Next I need to get the lawn out of the flower beds. This is the backyard. I'm hoping to plant a smallish tree...someday... at least. 

Our First House

I had not planned on buying a HOUSE. A whole freaking house. We are homeowner's, who live in a house. Without anyone else. OUR house....in the middle of the street... that song keeps getting stuck in my head.

So Wayne decided to go to law school pretty suddenly after Graham was born. As soon as he changed his major his grades improved, and he was much happier and interested in his classes. So right around the time Cooper was born he took the LSAT. (Everyone hoped and prayed that I wouldn't go into labor before the test.) He did pretty well, 93rd percentile, (WOOT WOOT), and we started looking at law schools. It came down to Emory, and University of Houston. After praaaaying and talking and praaaaying and praying and praying, we finally scrounged up a little time to get to the temple. I decided we should go to the Salt Lake Temple as neither of us had been and we were leaving Utah for sure. It was totally fantastic, I am so glad we did it, and as soon as we walked out the doors we knew we were going to Houston. Well since then, we've only received about 15 million blessings. Everything has fallen into place so quickly, and perfectly, including this house.

Yeah Whatever

I have never done this before. I'm not sure how committed to it I am, but I have had a few people tell me I should start a blog. We did leave a lot of family and friends behind in Utah, and this would be a great way to keep them updated.

Don't get all excited or anything. But I'll TRY.
